The face of Assisted Reproduction. The use of facial analysis techniques on donor selection.

Abstract

The usage of facial analysis techniques on the donor selection in assisted reproduction processes is a reality. The main goal of these techniques is to improve the chances of facial resemblance of the progeny conceived by gamete donation to their parents. We present the main challenges of this goal - facial analysis and features’ heritability - and revise their state of the art. We specially focused on deep learning approaches to facial analysis, similarity measurement and heritability of facial features, stressing also the importance of the appropriate datasets for the specific task at hand.
