Thus, it seems necessary to conduct studies that monitor sperm quality in different populations around the world. The present study aimed to characterise the sperm quality of 54 young men from Cáceres, Extremadura (Spain), compare the obtained data with the thresholds established by World Human Organization (WHO) and establish correlations between different indicators of sperm quality. Fifty-one subjects (19 - 39 years old) were included into the study. They were undergone to a basic spermiogram, a sociodemografic questionnaire and and sperm motility analysis performed through the Computer-Assisted Semen Analysis programme (C.A.S.A.). Results showed that the mean values of the sample for all the parameters evaluated were above the thresholds established by the WHO in its 2010 and 1999 guidelines. The 25.5% of the samples were below the minimum values for motile spermatozoa. Correlations analysis indicated that there was a significant negative correlation between motility and subject’s age and a positive relationship  between motility with the viability and other semen motility parameters. Therefore, we concluded that the seminal parameters of the healthy population studied were above the reference thresholds established by WHO 2010.
