Abstract

Air quality is a key factor in human reproduction laboratories and due to this fact is one of the most important parameters to be controlled. This document aims to make these aspects known based on the recently published Spanish norm UNE 171340:2020. In Spain it is mandatory to meet every requirement included on the RITE.RD 1027/2007 (Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings). Bio security is one of the most important aspects taken into account. Sampling procedures must be known, and it is also important to check out that these ones are carried out correctly. Legislation, in which we can include the norm UNE 171340:2020 tells us about which the critical points could be, and how often these points should be tested. In this previously mentioned norm, are clearly stated which are the microbiological standards of environmental quality, and the microbial and fungi contamination that can be allowed. Compliance with them, allows us to detect deviations and to implement corrective actions that ensure the environmental conditions required by gametes and embryos.
